viewMaximal functions are one of the most powerful tools in analysis. The aim of this workshop is to get (in case of students) or broaden (in case of other participants) basic knowledge about maximal functions and related theory. Both classical results and recent progress will be discussed. The programme consists of 8 lectures given by the participants, approx. 120 minutes long each, that will cover the following topics: properties and estimates of the classical centered/ non-centered Hardy- Littlewood maximal function, regularity and smoothing properties of maximal functions, optimal Lp estimates for maximal functions and the method of Bellman functions, maximal functions related to non-doubling measures.
