11th International Conference on Ordered Statistical Data

2-6.06.2014, Będlewo, Poland

First Announcement

Dear Friends,

Continuing the series of Conferences in Mysore, India (2000), Warsaw, Poland (2002-04), Izmir, Turkey (2005), Mashad, Iran (2006), Amman, Jordan (2007), Aachen, Germany (2008), Zagazig, Egypt (2010), Murcia, Spain (2012), the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Nicolaus Copernicus University will host the 11th International Conference on Ordered Statistical Data OSD 2014. The meeting will be held at the Mathematical Research and Conference Center in Będlewo, Poland, June 2nd - 6th, 2014.

The conference website is

The conference will bring forth recent advances and trends in the mathematical theory of ordered statistical data, including order statistics and their generalizations, censoring schemes, stochastic orders, and their applications in reliability, statistics and lifetime analysis. The scientific program will include some plenary talks, and sessions of invited and contributed talks. We also plan to organize a number of social events including welcome reception, barbecue party, conference dinner, and excursions.

The Scientific Committee members are Jafar Ahmadi (Ferdowsi University, Iran), Barry C. Arnold (University of California, USA), Narayanaswamy Balakrishnan (McMaster University, Canada), Haroon Barakat (Zagazig University, Egypt), Felix Belzunce (University of Murcia, Spain), Erhard Cramer (RWTH Aachen University, Germany), Anna Dembińska (Warsaw University of Technology, Poland), Udo Kamps (RWTH Aachen University, Germany), Maria Kateri (University of Ioannina, Greece), Haikady N. Nagaraja (The Ohio State University, USA), Jorge Navarro (University of Murcia, Spain), Hon Keung Tony Ng (Southern Methodist University, USA), and Tomasz Rychlik (Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland).

The Local Organizing Committee consists of Anna Dembińska (Warsaw University of Technology), Agnieszka Goroncy, Krzysztof Jasiński, Patryk Miziuła (all from Nicolaus Copernicus University), and Tomasz Rychlik (Polish Academy of Sciences).

The conference venue is the Mathematical Research and Conference Center of the Institute of Mathematics of Polish Academy of Sciences in Będlewo. This is located 26 km southwest from the center of Poznań (2 km from the Poznań - Wrocław route). The Center is situated in a charming spot on the border of the Wielkopolski National Park, among great woods and beautiful lakes. The complex spans 9 hectars, including a strictly preserved forest area. The Center itself is located in two buldings: a neogothic palace built in 1866, and a modern and fully equipped hotel.

The Będlewo Center website is

The participants will be accomodated in the hotel of the Będlewo Center. All the meals will be served there as well. The simplest way of reaching Będlewo is travelling by air. The Poznań Ławica International Airport has a number of international and domestic connections. Other convenient destination points are Warsaw and Berlin which have frequent railway connections with Poznań. The organizers will pick you up from Poznań Ławica International Airport or Poznań Główny railway station.

At the beginning of June, there is the best time for visiting Poland. The weater is very nice then: days are long and sunny, rains are seldom and warm, and the day temperatures vary between 15° and 25° C.

We hope for getting a substantial support from the Stefan Banach International Mathematical Center and other sources. We believe that the local costs will be relatively cheap for the participants. At the moment we are not able to calculate them precisely, and we not present the conference fee and the accomodation prices yet.

We cordially invite you to come to Będlewo for OSD 2014, present your achievements, exchange your research ideas, start and develop collaboration with other researchers from all over the world, and contribute to the further development of the field of ordered statistical data. Please inform your collegues about our conference. Also, we would be grateful if you deliver the e-mail addresses of other people who could be interested in the subject of our meeting. Then we send this our announcement to them as well.

With best wishes, on behalf of the Organizing Committee,

Tomek Rychlik
